Charleston End Table

Inspired by the tropical craftsmanship of the West Indies and classic British and Dutch Colonial design periods, the Charleston End Table has Bamboo-carved accents and a handpainted leaf motif on the tabletop. Crafted of Maple Veneers and Resin, it is finished in the serene Haint Blue, a soft color which can be found on the ceilings of porches and entryways, window shutters and doors in the American South, dating back more than 200 years from the Gullah folklore that held the color kept “haints” or spirits from entering homes and dwellings.

Through hand-craftsmanship such as rubbing and padding, our finishes feel as good as they look, with a smoothness that is delightful to the touch.

Finish Description:
Haint Blue: A soft blue color which can be found on the ceilings of porches and entryways, window shutters and doors. Inspired by Gullah folklore brought to the American South more than 200 years ago to keep "haints" or spirits, which could not cross water, from entering the home or dwelling. Embellised with floral handpainting on top.

Frame Construction:
Hooker Furniture uses carefully chosen solid wood and select wood veneers over durable wood products in our furniture construction. Use of veneers enables more decorative looks unattainable with solid wood. Veneers are used over durable wood products such as medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particle board, made of renewable resources. MDF and particle board are used in quality furniture for areas that need to be stable, such as large surfaces. These durable wood products do not expand and contract with heat and cold and do not absorb moisture as much as solid wood, which results in stronger and longer-lasting furniture.
